Verse
1 Corinthians 10:21
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils ye cannot be partakers of the Lord s table, and of the table of devils.
- Temptation
- Purity
- Fornication
- Sin
- Holiness
Inspiration
In this verse, Paul emphasizes the incompatibility of holiness and sin. The believer is called to live a life of purity, which means separating oneself from sin and the temptations that lead to it. The “cup of the Lord” represents fellowship with God, while the “cup of devils” represents participation in sinful and unholy practices. This verse reminds us that we cannot live double lives, partaking in both godly and sinful practices. As followers of Christ, we are called to purity and holiness, rejecting any form of temptation that leads us away from God. Holiness requires separation from sin, and we must continually resist the lure of worldly pleasures that defile our relationship with God.
