Inspiration
Did you know that when you are born again, you undergo a spiritual baptism by the Holy Spirit? Often, we focus on a physical baptism – the physical immersion in water that publicly proclaims your faith in Jesus Christ. However, Paul tells us that we all have also been baptized into one body and made to drink one Spirit. No matter what your background, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or denomination is, we are all baptized into one family through the Holy Spirit of God. It means that we all can have fellowship together through that one Spirit, enjoying each other’s company and spiritual edification. This was amazing news to the people at the time when this was written due to the amount of segregation, especially between the Jews and the Gentiles. Instead of being apart, they were brought together by the Holy Spirit of God through baptism. The same message still applies to us today. We are all unified by that same Spirit and are called to be one, not many. Let us think on this truth and enjoy it as we fellowship together as one body!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I am sorry for the times I have made myself separate from those of Your body rather than one with them. It can be so easy to reject certain people and accept others, but Your Word tells us that we are all one through the baptism of Your Holy Spirit. Help me unify with my brothers and sisters in Christ and love them the way Christ loves me. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
