Inspiration
Often, people tell how hard it is to become a Christian and obey God. But if you already know that you need Christ, why is it hard and heavy to follow and obey Him every day of your life? It might be the case that those who claim that Christian life is nothing more than instructions have never really understood its meaning. In our verse today, John wants to remind us that as Christians, we are supposed to keep God's commandments, and they're not burdensome. Our salvation does not come from obeying God's commands but rather the result of it. As sinful as we are, we deserve the wrath of God, and we deserve eternal condemnation. But because of God's grace, mercy, and love, He has saved us and paid for our debt. Once we truly understand what God did for all of us and love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul, obeying Him becomes natural. Christ has taken all the burdens from us, so obeying God's commands should never be burdensome but a joy. God always wants the best for us. Therefore, He has given us these commandments for us to follow so we remain in Him. Let's rejoice in His love and obey Him with great joy!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your wise commandments that are not meant to be burdensome for me, but enable me to live a full and fruitful life. Help me to remember Your commandments in everything I do so that I can serve as a testimony of Your love. May you protect me from the distractions of this world and keep me in Your perfect peace. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
