Verse
Colossians 3:12
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
- Compassion
- Mercy
- Humility
- Kindness
- Patience
Inspiration
In this passage, Paul urges believers to put on certain virtues that reflect the character of God: compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and longsuffering. These qualities are not just for a select few, but for all who are called the "elect of God." The phrase “bowels of mercies” conveys a deep, inward sense of mercy—compassion that comes from the very core of our being. These virtues are the fruit of God’s work in our lives and reflect His character to the world. By putting on these qualities, we show the love of Christ in practical, tangible ways. Compassion is not simply a feeling, but an attitude that is worked out in how we treat others. This verse challenges us to evaluate how we interact with those around us—whether we are demonstrating kindness, patience, and humility, or if we are allowing bitterness and selfishness to rule our hearts. As we grow in these qualities, we become more like Christ and serve as a testimony of His love and grace.
