Inspiration
You can only please God if you are a true believer. It is unfortunate that far too often, those who began their Christian lives by faith are no longer able to rely on the truth of Scripture. Many of them have become careless in seeking the Lord, and some have even abandoned their first love. When they take their eyes off Jesus, they begin to doubt the truth which God has given them. Christians who live in their own strength or rely on their own righteousness are not pleasing to the Lord. Since they are not trusting the Word of God, faith, as the Bible says, is the evidence of things not seen. Our faith in God's Word pleases Him. In our salvation, we please God, but we will also please Him throughout our Christian lives by believing that He keeps His promises and by believing that He rewards those who seek Him - by faith. Let us trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and not rely on our own righteousness. Let us never forget what God promised: that He is a reward for those who diligently seek him.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I realize how quickly and easily I can divide my trust into doubt when things don’t go as planned. Forgive me, my Father. I pray that I will never falter in my confidence in You, just like the men and women of faith in Hebrews. Please help me to seek You with all of my heart day by day, for I know that I can be pleasing in Your sight as Christ lives in me and that only through faith can I live to please You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
