Isaiah 55:8

Inspiration
Often, we try to second-guess God and predict His actions based on what we believe He is supposed to do. So, when we hear God say in Isaiah 55:8, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." we need to be reminded that our way of thinking is so different from God's way of thinking. Often, we live in a way that is so different from how God wants us to live. In our minds, we frequently create an unreal God, made in our own image and likeness, instead of realizing we are made in His image. We forget that He is the eternal Creator whose ways and works are beyond our comprehension. It's foolish to act as if we know what God is thinking and planning. Rather than trying to fit God's plans into ours, we should make ourselves fit His. We may be disappointed, our plans may fail, and our expectations may be frustrated, but God has a higher purpose in mind for us. As His children, we are a part of His eternal plan. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but those who are called according to His purpose will always be blessed by His thoughts, plans, ways, and works.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, transform my thoughts to be like Yours. Help me to live and think according to what's going to matter for all of eternity, not according to my worldly desires. As I go about my days, help me see things from your perspective in my family, at work, and in my community. I surrender myself to You, Lord. Let Your will be done in my life. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
