Inspiration
In this story, the priest Zechariah is celebrating the birth of his son, John, who will grow up to become one of the most powerful heralds of the Messiah. The prophecy is narrated in the form of a song containing many references to the Old Testament. In the preceding verse, Zechariah emphasized God's commitment to the people of Israel and His promise to redeem them. There is a key point to note here, namely that salvation comes from the Lord, and God has raised up a Horn of Salvation for His people. As described in the Bible, a horn represents strength, authority, might, and power. The Lord has raised up for us a Horn of Salvation, a powerful and mighty Saviour from the house and lineage of David who would possess the power and authority of the Lord. Approximately 2000 years ago, God fulfilled his promise to raise up a Horn of Salvation in the house of David, His servant, to provide salvation for us. It was Jesus Christ who was the salvation, and He came as a light not only to the people who walked in darkness but also to the Gentiles in order to lighten their lives.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus as the Horn of my salvation. Thank You for saving me just because I trusted Him as Saviour. The plan of redemption was foreordained before the foundation of the world. We have a strong and mighty Savior, Jesus, descended from the house and lineage of King David, who, with the authority and power granted to Him by You, Father, fulfilled the plans and purposes of the wonderful truth of salvation. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
