Inspiration
As Jesus commanded His followers, they are to choose the more difficult of two metaphorical roads, each accessed by a different gate. The narrow gate must be chosen. In this case, the gate is narrow in the sense that there is only one pathway to salvation. It is challenging since Jesus' disciples will be persecuted by his enemies. In spite of this, there is only one path that leads to life eternal and abundant, and that is the path of Jesus. During Jesus' sermon, he offered two ways to be saved. It is possible to live a sinless life either by keeping the entire Law or by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Israel was shown the first way through the Mosaic Law. Salvation can only be gained when we are perfect towards God and others. All, however, have sinned. We all fall short of the glory of God. We have all broken God's perfect Law. Therefore, we are all condemned and need a Savior. Unfortunately, in today's world, there are still religiously minded, legalistic, self-righteous people blind to the narrow path that leads to salvation. The will of God is not for anyone to perish but for everyone to come to faith in Christ. Therefore, we should be prepared to speak the truth in love to those who are lost in their own illusions.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me to an understanding that the gate to life is straight and the way is narrow through Your grace. Thank You for enabling me to discover Christ as the truth of the glorious gospel of grace through my faith in Him. Have mercy on those who remain dead in their sin. Please use me to speak the truth in love to those who are on the broad road to destruction and bring many people into Your kingdom today. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
