Inspiration
Once again, Paul emphasizes that our homeland is in heaven, not on earth. Having responsible citizenship is important, but our ultimate destiny can be found only in heaven, with the Lord. The focus of a Christian should not be on worldly things but rather on Christ and His return. A focus on greed, sin, and the things of this world should not be the focus of our attention. Rather, we should be concerned with what is pleasing to God. God has given us eternal life as a gift, but we can only gain full assurance of our heavenly inheritance by believing in the blood of Jesus. There is no connection between our heavenly citizenship and our qualities, but rather, it is a result of His work. There is no open road to heaven for all, only for those who believe in Him. In all we say and do, we should reflect Jesus' righteousness with which we are clothed and covered. In contrast to what the media mindset portrays of extraterrestrial, benevolent beings waiting to contact us in the universe, the Church is the only being alien to this planet since we are new creations in Christ, and our citizenship and conversations are in heaven.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, it is the eternity that You have placed in our hearts, and we will soon be in our heavenly home at the end of our earthly life. Being a member of Your heavenly family, as one of Your children, is such a blessing. My Father, thank You for the grace and love You have poured out on me to give me a heavenly inheritance. I pray that my conduct and conversation throughout my life on earth will glorify Your holy name. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
