Inspiration
One of the most difficult yet most important things one can learn is how to control one's words. The book of Proverbs repeats this lesson. Those who speak without thinking or without control may make rash promises that they do not keep. As a result, he may insult others, lie, reveal secrets, or give unsound advice. He will suffer the consequences of his careless, harsh language. Those who guard their mouths and the words they utter will be able to avoid trouble and preserve their lives. In contrast, those whose lips are open in a careless cackling will suffer disastrous consequences. In this regard, it is extremely important to ensure that all of the conversation that flows from our lips is always seasoned with grace and salt so that we may know the appropriate response to each individual. Christ Jesus is the perfect example of a person whose words were gracious and kind, wise and instructive. He spoke the truth in love. Through the Word of God and meditation on His wisdom, we will not only guard our mouth from evil but also pour out His words of healing and help to others until it is no longer I who speak, but Christ who does so for me.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, my body is so wonderfully made because of You. Please help me think before I speak and take hold of what I say. Please help me to speak in a way that builds rather than destroys. Instead of being used for the enemy's purposes, I want my words to glorify You. I will guard my tongue against speaking foolish words and making unconsidered remarks. Let me always speak the truth in love, graciousness, goodness, and kindness. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
