Psalms 62:5

Inspiration
While we wait on God, the posture of our souls is to be examined. In our season of waiting, what we do is just as important as the period of waiting. When the Psalmist waits on God in this text, his soul waits in silence as one who is anxious to hear only what God is going to say. This is the proper strategy for waiting. It is the time to separate from every noise that is not God and wait patiently for God to come through. A good and powerful example of waiting on God is seen in the life of Moses when he goes up the mountain to receive the commandments from God. Moses would wait forty days without distraction until God showed up. His waiting is always rewarded by a unique manifestation of God’s presence. How do you wait, my brother and my sister? How strong is your hope in the One who can deliver you? When you wait on God, your focus must be only on Him. Wait in silence and in humble longing for God to come through. This is how to meet God.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, teach me how to wait. In our fast-paced world, this can be the most difficult thing to do. I am surrounded by systems and strategies that seem like an attractive alternative to waiting for Your mighty majesty, but please help me not to be distracted and chase after things that cannot give me what You give. Help me not to trust my own intellect or that of others. Help me to be silent and submissive to Your will while I wait for You. In You, Lord is my hope. Only You can do the things You do, and I will wait for You to show up, no matter how long it takes. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
