Inspiration
As Paul states in this verse, we have obtained the most significant thing in the universe through Christ: access to the grace of God. As a simple definition, grace is the gift of undeserved favor. Due to our sins, each of us deserves God's angry judgment. In contrast, what we have been blessed with is God's grace. Knowing that we will participate in the glory of God for all time, we should rejoice. Paul encourages us to live each day for Christ, redeeming the time and eagerly anticipating his return. Hope in God's glory is an earnest desire and joyful expectation of the fulfillment of God's rich promises to us. It is based on the sure foundation of His eternal Word and His unchangeable character. Upon seeing Him face-to-face in His glory, we will receive even more abundant blessings. The ease, abundance, and prosperity of a carefree life can often cause us to lose focus on the eternal and place our focus on the temporary. Having a confident future hope of God's glory is the eternal result of patiently enduring our present sufferings today. In light of the glory that will be revealed, let us rejoice in our suffering.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for all that You have done to bless me with Your salvation. Thank You, dear Lord, for Your promise to return and for inviting me to join You in Your glory. On that day, let me be purified for Your service. Just like Paul, I want to rejoice in my sufferings, which are only temporary, knowing that the joy that awaits me is based on Your unchanging promises. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
