Bebe's interpretation
When a baby is born into the family, we anticipate his progression to maturity from infancy to adulthood. However, it can become a cause for worry or concern if the baby’s development does not progress as expected. When we are born again in Christ, we assume the position of babies regardless of our age. God takes pleasure in our maturity towards adulthood. The measure of how mature we are is the degree to which we conform to the image of Christ. The end of our spiritual maturity is to attain this standard - the fullness of Christ. Irrespective of our denomination, God wants all believers to be unified in faith and in our knowledge of Jesus. Unity in faith refers to oneness in our conviction of who God is and the assurance that He can do what He says. Unity in the knowledge of Jesus implies that on the basis of our faith, we know who Jesus is based on experience and not just mere intellectualism. The issue of differences in our belief system and divisions within Christian circles is solved if we all attain maturity. As we press towards growing into that perfect man, we begin to put away childish things - a carnal way of thinking and acting. We tend to increase in love and our expressions of the fruits of the Spirit, and our level of spiritual sensitivity increases as we feed on the solid food of God’s word.
