Inspiration
There is an almost irrational sense of peace that comes with trusting God. Regardless of the pending circumstance, we are instructed not to be fearful or dismayed. Jesus made himself an example of this. Crossing the Sea of Galilee to the opposite shore required a boat for Jesus and his disciples. Jesus dozed off in the boat while traveling when an abrupt storm developed. The disciples started to worry and fear about their situation. As they were ready to perish in the storm, they awoke Jesus and questioned how he could be sleeping at that very moment. However, Jesus maintained his composure, which further perplexed the alarmed disciples. Jesus simply got to his feet and yelled, "Peace, be still!" As the storm subsided at the Lord's command, the wind and the sea calmed. The disciples were so confused. Even though the disciples had the honor of following Jesus and witnessing his miracles, they lacked the assurance that they would be safe during a trying time. We are like the disciples. Even when we see God work in miraculous ways, we are terrified at the sight of the next storm. This verse is a divine promise from God. With His righteous hand, He will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us in every situation we face. Let us be fearless today because God is with us!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I've witnessed what You've done for me and others. I know You are an all-powerful God, and I need not fear. Help me to internalize this truth so that I can experience Your unending peace. Regardless of the situation of the day, You are my God, and You will give me peace in the storm. You control the winds and the waves. Help me to believe that I have nothing to fear because You are always with me. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
