John 20:21

Inspiration
Jesus commissioned his disciples to preach the gospel before his crucifixion and death. In the above verse, however, it seems he was formally inaugurating them into the kingdom business. He was officially handing over the baton to the disciples to ensure the continuity of his vision. Usually, the death of a business owner, especially if it was a one-man business, marks the end of the enterprise. But God has a plan. It was of the utmost importance that the message of the kingdom which would bring salvation got to the ends of the earth. To achieve this even after His death, He had to formally commission the disciples for the work ahead. He had intimated them with the intricacies of the job and they had been authorized to continue what He had started. Unfortunately, many believers are oblivious to why they have been sent. Some are not even aware that they are on assignment. Jesus knew what the Father sent Him to do. We also must find out our purposes in God if we are to fulfill the reasons of being sent. We must ensure the continuity of the kingdom business by knowing our place in God. Fortunately, God provides all we need to perform our assignment; we are empowered by His Spirit to do what we are called and sent to do.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for calling me out of darkness into Your light. I bless You for the privilege of being grafted into You and adopted into the family of God as a son. Thank You for Your goodness and patience towards me. I pray that You will show me or enable me to hear the purpose for which I am sent. Guide me on the path that You have set for me so that I will not go astray. Empower me with the abilities to live out my purpose so that I will fulfil the essence of my existence on the Earth and glorify You. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
