Mark 6:5

Inspiration
It was clear from Mark's account that Jesus performed miracles to acknowledge someone's faith. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people in Nazareth expressed unbelief rather than faith. Unbelief limited Christ's remarkable healing work and great redemptive ministry in His hometown. Because of this, Jesus performed only a few minor miracles. There was no reason for Jesus to become powerless or impotent as a result of the people's lack of faith. The absence of faith did not negate His divine authority. There was no such thing as a 'faith healer' in Christ. As the almighty God, He exercised His divine authority appropriately in the face of sickness and sin. However, Jesus knew that the miracles He performed did not change their hearts toward Him but intensified their guilt and hardened their hearts even more. The decision to be unbelieving is one of free will. It is clear from the events at Nazareth that prejudice, religious belief, legalism, and carnality have devastating effects on human lives. Those who do not wish to believe the truth will not be forced upon by the Lord. All who believe in His name will find His arms always open.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always opening Your arms to all who believe in Your name. Throughout my life, I pray that I do not form incorrect biases or become overly legalistic. Please grant me a teachable spirit, and may the truth of the gospel firmly establish my faith. Please help me to trust God's promises and be open to what His Spirit wants to teach me. Let me be a powerful instrument in your hands, and use me to advance the gospel in the world. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
