Inspiration
As Paul points out in this verse, this battle-tested faith of endurance results in the quality of character in Christians. Character-driven Christians stick to the right path continuously. It appears that suffering tends to cause us to trust God on a deeper level, and the more we trust God, the more likely we are to consistently make the right decisions in the future. As a result, we become proven Christians. It is human nature to desire to live in comfort and to avoid life's challenges and pains. However, Scripture teaches us that only those who overcome the hardships of life can develop the patience, endurance, and character that are so acceptable to the Lord, which results in a mature faith and a firm belief in Him that is firmly established. We can be assured that, as we consider this truth and apply it to our lives, the pressure, affliction, and hardship we may face will produce in us steadfast endurance, a proven character, and a hope rooted in the love of our Savior.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for enabling me to access Your amazing grace through faith and for giving me the strength to stand firm in the evil day. Jesus Christ is my hope, and I praise You for placing it in His Person and Work, who cannot and will not disappoint me. My heart is filled with Your gracious love through the indwelling Holy Spirit as a guarantee of the promises You have provided. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
