Inspiration
The Lord was careful not to entrust Himself to those in Jerusalem. It was clear to him that most of them were only interested in entertainment. It was certainly entertaining to witness Jesus' discussions with the Pharisees, as well as His miracles. With time, people would turn away from Christ as they realized that fireworks were not the primary purpose of his ministry. When the crowds saw the miracles He performed, they became exuberant and followed Him around the streets of Jerusalem. They began to believe in Him, but not for who He was, but rather for what they could gain from Him. Christ, however, knew their hearts and motives. Whether their faith was genuine and stemmed from a desire to live godly or merely a counterfeit belief, Jesus knew. In some cases, people who follow Christ for the wrong reasons may be viewed with surprise or even critical eyes. Nevertheless, we must never forget that we are all considered sinners by God. In addition, we should never forget that we are only given a new life by grace through faith in Christ.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, considering that every word I speak, every action I take, and every thought that crosses my mind is visible to You is truly a sobering thought. By faith, You created me a new creation in Christ, not through my righteousness, but through Your righteousness. To serve You with my words, deeds, and motives, I pray for You to take all my thoughts captive to Christ. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
