Inspiration
False teachers have been in the world, even in the days of Jesus. They mislead people by teaching deceit in place of the truth of God’s word. They will increase in number as we approach the last days. These teachings and doctrines are either half-truths or heresies without foundation in the word of God. They are usually eloquent and full of charisma; some even perform miraculous signs and wonders, making it easy for people to believe they are of God. Babes in faith are usually their victims because they are not yet grounded in the ways of the Spirit. Because there are lying spirits and teachers around, we ought to examine every spiritual claim or teaching and not blindly accept them. Before we accept any teaching or doctrine, we must, by the Spirit, check the source and content. Does it agree with the Scriptures? Does it align with the right counsel of God? Is the message from God? Such truth should be vetted by the counsel of the Spirit, and the word of God should have a final say. It is important that every child of God knows the truth of God’s word and can discern between spirits. Intellectual eloquence and charisma do not always equate to the truth. Do not be deceived.
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for access to the full counsel of You through Your Spirit. I bless You for the revelation of all the things You have prepared for me. I pray that You bless me with the gift of discernment to test every spiritual truth I hear. Help me to decipher the source of every teaching, recognize deceitful doctrines, and reject them. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
